The Fort

As per historical records, Samode Fort was built by Shri. Raval Sheo Singh, who was the immediate guarding of Shri. Ram Singh, King of Jaipur.

Towering over Samode Village, Samode Fort commands an unmatched panoramic view of the surrounding Aravali hill range, the oldest fold mountains in India, and among the oldest in the world. Perched at this height, Samode Fort offers supreme peace and serenity. In the winter months, one wakes up to a celestial view of low-lying clouds that envelop the surrounding hills, Samode Village and beyond.

In yester years , sunlight reflected off mirrors was used to communicate the advancing enemy’s position with the nearby Mahar Fort, Samode Gunnery and the Palace below.

Watch the enchanting, inspiring and refreshing views of the rising eastern Sun casting a warm golden glow on the roof-tops of the Havelis and houses of Samode Village below. The melodious bells of the famous temple of Lord Hanuman, located to the north, awaken a mystic serenity within you. Westwards, an ancient stone-paved pathway sleepily climbs its way to Samode Fort, leading to the immensely worshipped and highly revered ‘Maataaji Temple’, which plays host to a bi-annual ceremonial religious fair.

Nested among the foothills, on the south side of Samode Fort, lies the Samode Palace. Housed within lies the intricately crafted ‘Sheesh Mahal’ (Mirror Room). Just outside the palace gates, one can find a stone staircase ascending towards Samode Fort and leading to the temple of Lord Hanuman.
